Question about converting .mov - It's usually when dragging the edges of a clip to shorten it, it starts playing back jerkily or seizes up. I live in the USA and almost all of the manufacturers that sell electronics here seem to think that we have no need to play PAL video. You'll have to rip a PAL DVD and burn it and see if it plays or not. Any DVDs you make yourself should not have region coding. ...

Problem with SPDIF input - I can tell you that my X-Fi card can do it, but I think it has an on-board decoder. Sounds like you're almost working, but in software only. You could try playing an audio-only AC3 file using the same method, it should play a little better with the reduced CPU load of no video. Also perhaps try a lo-bitrate sound file, for the same reasons. ...

Avi to DVD and Audio Sync Issue - The audio *tab* shows the target bitrate of the file you produce, not the bitrate of the source. On Quality and Quantity - Recently, events in my life have conspired to bring my schedule from incorporating gaming several times each week to running only one weekly game. I'd love to hear your reflections on this topic now that I'm sharing my own. read more...
